Tournament Creation Wizard

Step-by-step guide to creating a tournament using the 3-page wizard

Club admins and permitted members can create tournaments using a guided 3-page wizard. The wizard walks you through template selection, tournament definition, and configuration.

Page 1: Choose a Starting Point

Pick how you want to begin:

  • Start from Blank: Empty form — build everything from scratch
  • System Presets: Pre-configured formats like "Americano Social" or "Knockout Cup" with recommended settings
  • Saved Templates: Reuse a configuration saved from a previous tournament
  • Previous Tournaments: Clone settings from a completed tournament

Page 2: Tournament Definition

Define what the tournament looks like:

  • Sport (padel, tennis, squash, pickleball, badminton)
  • Format (Americano, Knockout Cup, Round Robin, Double Elimination)
  • Name and description
  • Minimum and maximum player capacity
  • Eligibility: singles/doubles, gender, age, membership requirement, and skill levels

Page 3: Tournament Configuration

Set the logistics:

  • Schedule: start/end date and time, single-day toggle
  • Court reservation: select courts from the availability grid (held for 15 minutes while you configure)
  • Booking window: how many days before the start registration opens
  • Withdrawal deadline: last day to cancel
  • Pricing: member and non-member entry fees

Court Recommendations

The wizard shows a recommendation card with the optimal number of courts and estimated duration based on your format, sport, and capacity. Use this as a guide when reserving courts.

Common Problems

  • Court hold expired: Court holds last 15 minutes. If you take longer on the configuration page, your held courts may be released. Re-select them from the availability grid.
  • "Start date must be in the future": The tournament start date and time must be after the current moment. Check both the date and time fields.
  • Can't see the Create Tournament option: Your club admin may not have granted you permission to create tournaments. Contact your club administrator.
